Every breakthrough starts with a conversation: a farmer describing a challenge; an engineer sketching out a new idea; or a field team noticing something that could work better.

Innovation at Nanobubble Agritech is driven by collaboration between our engineers, farmers, and partners to build irrigation technology that performs in the real world. From our Taranaki workshop to installations across New Zealand, every system we design is shaped by hands on insight and a shared goal: to help farmers increase yields, improve water use efficiency, and fight soil-borne diseases.


From field to workshop = a collaboration cycle

Whether it’s a Canterbury dairy farm battling tough summer conditions or an orchard facing soil-borne disease, the conversation is always best on-farm, which is what we aim for soon after making initial contact. “Every installation teaches us something new,” explains Rhys Bishop, Design Engineer. “We take that feedback straight back into our design process - refining components, improving efficiency, and finding ways to make the system even more reliable.”


That real-world insight fuels an ongoing cycle of innovation. As each system is installed and monitored, the team evaluates how it performs under local conditions, adjusting for factors like existing infrastructure, operational processes, and farmer preferences. We really leverage practical, data-driven improvement born from collaboration with the farmers who use it every day.

Designing technology that works for farmers

For Daneel Ovtcharenko, Design Engineer, the magic lies in adapting technology to real-world constraints. “Our farmers push us to innovate,” he says. “They need solutions that are tough, practical, and integrate easily into existing irrigation setups. Taking an existing technology and re-engineering it to perform under New Zealand conditions, that’s what we do best.”


This approach has shaped everything from how Nanobubble Agritech generators handle variable water sources to how they’re mounted and serviced in the field. The result? Simpler integration, stronger performance, and systems built to last.


Real world results drive real-world change

Leon Power, Co-Founder and Managing Director, sees collaboration as the engine of progress. “Our goal is simple, make water go further, make it work harder. Every improvement comes from listening to our customers and seeing what happens once the systems are operating in the field.”


This on-farm feedback has already led to measurable results: improved water-use efficiency; better crop resilience; and higher yields across dairy, horticulture, and protected cropping. Each project informs the next, creating a loop of continuous improvement.


Partnerships beyond the farm gate

Innovation at Nanobubble Agritech also extends to research and validation. The team regularly collaborates with industry partners, agronomists, and research organisations to measure system performance and quantify the environmental and financial benefits of nanobubble technology.


“It’s been incredible to see our technology evolve from field trials into proven commercial systems,” says Lauren Oehme, Co-Founder and Corporate Manager. “That growth has only been possible because of the farmers and research partners who’ve shared their experience and data along the way.”


The path ahead… continuous improvement!
