From their Taranaki workshop to Canterbury farms and locations in between, Nanobubble Agritech’s team blends Kiwi ingenuity with global expertise to deliver innovative irrigation solutions for the real world. Every nanobubble system installed across New Zealand is the result of collaboration, curiosity, and a shared drive to make farming more productive and sustainable.
This month, we’re taking you behind the scenes to meet the people who bring this technology to life.
Leon Power - Managing Director and Co-Founder
Leon’s journey with Nanobubble Agritech began with a passion for farming and innovation. As one of the company’s founders, he leads customer engagement and education, bridging the gap between cutting-edge science and practical on-farm solutions.
“My role is really about showing farmers what our technology can do for their business; how we can make water go further, boost productivity, and create opportunities in regional New Zealand.”
With a background deeply rooted in agriculture, Leon often spends his days on the road meeting farmers, speaking at field days, and collaborating with research partners. What he loves most? The people.
"Our team’s motivated, fun, and genuinely passionate about improving farming. Working in such a fast-moving, innovative space makes every day exciting.”
When he’s not out meeting clients, Leon’s a hands-on dad of three boys, usually found in the garden, fixing something around the house, or supporting a rugby or sports game.
Lauren Oehme - Corporate Manager and Co-Founder
Lauren is the steady engine behind Nanobubble Agritech’s BizOps. As Corporate Manager, she keeps every behind-the-scenes part of the business humming, from finance and grants management to marketing and communications.
“A typical day is so varied; marketing, proposals, reporting, accounting… no two days are the same. But that’s what I love about it.”
One of her proudest achievements is guiding the business from its early research phase into commercial rollout.
“We’ve shifted from being a development company to actually installing systems on-farm and delivering real results for farmers. It’s incredibly rewarding to see that growth.”
Outside work, Lauren’s happiest with her husband and three kids, chasing waves at their local beach or exploring the outdoors.
Daneel Ovtcharenko - Design Engineer
Daneel is one of the chief technical architects behind Nanobubble Agritech systems. With a background in engineering and industrial design, he has driven the research, design, and testing of the technology from the beginning, ensuring every system performs in the toughest on-farm conditions.
“My work covers everything from design to manufacturing and installation. You get to see the entire journey from concept to reality, it’s pretty satisfying.”
A highlight for Daneel has been adapting Nanobubble systems to handle harsh water qualities and expanding their use into irrigation and wastewater applications.
“Taking an existing technology and re-engineering it to perform under real-world conditions is what I love. We’ve built something robust that genuinely works for farmers.”
Rhys Bishop - Industrial Engineer
With engineering experience from BMW, Bosch Rexroth, and Amazon Logistics Group in Germany, Rhys brings international precision to a proudly New Zealand innovation.
“We’re a small team, so everyone chips in; from R&D to supply chain to design. What excites me most is being part of something that’s genuinely making a difference for farmers.”
Rhys sees nanobubble technology as a smart way forward for agriculture.
“It’s about growing more with less; less water, less chemical use, more efficiency. And it’s just the beginning for where this technology can go.”
Now back home in Taranaki, he’s combining global engineering experience with his farming roots to help local producers lead the way in sustainable innovation.
More than just technology...
While their roles are diverse, the Nanobubble Agritech team shares one vision: helping farmers make the most of every drop of water. Their combined expertise, spanning engineering, science, business, and agriculture, drives the innovation behind each nanobubble system installed across New Zealand and beyond.
Behind every system delivered, there’s a conversation, a site visit, a brainstorm, and a team that believes in better outcomes for farmers and the environment alike.
